John’s formative years of music were influenced greatly by his father. Country Johnny Mathis. John’s father was a successful artist and BMI Award Winning songwriter. This influence in music led John into working in Christian Music for over 2 decades in the areas of songwriting, music publishing and managing a record label. 

 

Those early years also came with an influence of faith and a heart for the church, instilled by his parents. After learning to play piano at the age of 10, John would spend many years as the church pianist and at various times assisting churches with worship. His parents provided a foundation for the importance of fellowship and community of church.
